The Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) is a household survey that collects data on non-institutionalized men and women ages 15 years and older using a standardized methodology for constructing the sample frame, selecting households, and processing data.

The GATS is designed to produce national and subnational estimates on tobacco use. The 2019-2020 Sri Lanka GATS sampled 7,172 households and 6,770 individuals completed interviews, with one individual randomly selected from each participating household.
