Summary

The Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) is a household survey that collects data on non-institutionalized men and women ages 15 years and older using a standardized methodology for constructing the sample frame, selecting households, and processing data.

The GATS is designed to produce national and subnational estimates on tobacco use. The Russia GATS was conducted in 2016 and surveyed 11,458 persons ages 15 and older. The survey featured questions on smoking and smokeless tobacco use, cessation, secondhand smoke, economics, media, and knowledge, attitudes, and perceptions.
