In 2012, the SRS covered a sample of 7,597 sample units and a total population of 7,522,000 individuals in both urban and rural areas. The SRS collects birth and death data from households in two ways: ongoing enumeration by local fieldworkers and half-yearly surveys administered by SRS supervisors.
