The 2014 Senegal Continuous Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) is part of phase 7 of the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) series, a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey series, and is the second survey in a five phase series of surveys planned to take place regularly from 2012-2017. Information on demographics, child and maternal health, child nutrition, immunization, and health behavior was successfully collected from a sample of 8,488 women ages 15-49 and 3,371 men ages 15-59 from 4,231 households.

Summary 

The 2012-2013 Senegal Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) is part of Phase 6 of the DHS series. The 2012-2013 survey was the first of five planned phases of the Senegal Continuous DHS. 

The survey covered household characteristics, possession and use of mosquito nets, family planning, maternal care, and child health.

The household sample size was 4,400 households. A total of 9,042 women ages 15 to 49 were included in the sample.

Summary 

This facility survey, also known as the ECPSS, was designed to provide information on the availability and quality of health facility infrastructure, resources, and management systems, as well as child health, family planning, maternal health, and specific infectious disease services. A component of the survey was to measure the quality of available HIV/AIDS services. Private and public hospitals, health centers, voluntary HIV counselling and testing centers, and clinics in Senegal were included in the survey.

Data was gathered via facility audit questionnaires, health care provider interviews, client exit interviews, and observations of provider-client interactions. A total of 438 facilities were successfully investigated.

Results of this survey can be used to supplement the results of the 2012-2013 Senegal Continuous DHS as part of DHS6. This is the first round of five planned rounds of the Senegal Continuous SPA.

The Senegal Demographic and Health Survey 2010-2011 is part of phase six of the Demographic and Health Survey (DHS) series, a comprehensive, nationally representative household survey. Covers population, education, health, nutrition, family planning and household characteristics.

This survey, also known as EDSV-MICS although it is not an official MICS survey, collected data on households, women, men, and children 5 and under. The sample was 7,902 households, 15,688 women age 15 to 49, and 4,929 men age 15 to 59.

In addition to the questionnaire, women were measured and tested for HIV and anemia, men were tested for HIV and anemia, and children were measured for height and weight and also tested for anemia and malaria.

This 1996 household expenditure survey was conducted in the capital city of Dakar. It covered basic demographic information, water, sanitation, cooking fuels, and household expenses. It was one of seven surveys of its kind conducted in the following countries at the same time: Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo and Burkina Faso.

The survey does not cover households in the city where the head of household worked in an international organization or a diplomatic capacity. A total of 1,008 households were included in the sample.
