The Child Health Survey was conducted as part of the Gulf Child Health Survey Program. The first phase of the survey covered all households in the sample and included a Basic Household Survey, Maternal Care Survey, and a Child Health Survey. A second, multi-round survey was administered to two groups: women reported as ever married and under 50 years of age in the first phase and children under age 6. A sample of 3,740 nationally representative households was chosen. 3,411 households were enumerated for the main survey, including 4,233 women who were identified as eligible for the individual maternal care interview in the second phase; 4,175 of those women were surveyed. A total of 7,687 children under six years of age were enumerated in the household survey and covered in the child health survey. The survey is part of the Gulf Family Health Survey (GFHS), a research program executed by the Council of Health Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) States. The survey instruments consist of four questionnaires: household health status, household environmental conditions, reproductive health, and child health. The first two questionnaires were successfully administered to 3,673 households. The reproductive health questionnaire was answered by 3,453 ever-married women under 50 years of age, while the child health questionnaire gathered information on 3,514 children under five years of age.
The survey covers topics such as living conditions, maternal care, tobacco use, child vaccinations, and various health indicators of morbidity. The report and tabulations may be available through the library system.

The survey is part of the Global Family Health Survey (GFHS), a research program executed by the Council of Health Ministers of the GCC States. The sample of 4,774 Qatari citizen households is based on the 1997 census. The survey instrument consists of four questionnaires: household health status, household environmental conditions, reproductive health, and child health. The first two questionnaires were successfully administered to 4,207 households. The reproductive health questionnaire was answered by 3,787 ever-married women under 50 years of age, while the child health questionnaire gathered information on 3,775 children under five years of age. The Child Health Survey was conducted as part of the Gulf Child Health Survey Program. Out of a sample of 4,194 nationally representative households, 3,868 were enumerated for the main survey. The maternal care survey interviewed 3,918 women (out of 3,958 eligible participants). The survey is part of the Gulf Family Health Survey (GFHS), a research program executed by the Council of Health Ministers of the GCC States. The sample of 11,080 households was based on the 1992 census. The survey instrument consisted of four questionnaires: household health status, household socioeconomic and environmental conditions, reproductive health, and child health. The first two questionnaires were successfully administered to 10,510 households. The reproductive health questionnaire was answered by 8,894 ever-married women under 50 years of age, while the child health questionnaire gathered information on 10,831 children under five years of age. The report included demographic information, general health indicators, patterns of chronic illness and care-seeking behavior, nuptiality, indicators of safe motherhood and obstetric complications, child nutritional status, breastfeeding and supplementation, childhood morbidity, and immunization.

Saudi Arabia Child Health Survey 1987-1988

The Child Health Survey was conducted as part of the Gulf Child Health Survey Program. The first phase of the survey covered all households in the sample and included a Basic Household Survey, Maternal Care Survey, and a Child Health Survey. A second, multi-round survey was administered to three groups: women reported as pregnant in the first phase, children born in the 12-month period prior to the first phase, and children born during the follow up survey to pregnant women covered in the second phase.
A sample of 9,061 nationally representative households was chosen, excluding the nomadic population. Of the chosen sample, 8,044 households were surveyed for the main survey, including 8,563 women who were identified as eligible for the individual maternal care interview in the second phase; 8,482 of those women were surveyed. A total of 13,332 children under six years of age were enumerated in the household survey. The report and tabulations may be available through the library system.

Bahrain Family Health Survey 1995

This nationally representative survey was conducted as part of the Gulf Family Health Project. The sample was a two-stage stratified cluster sample of 4,550 households, based on the 1991 census. The sample is not strictly self-weighting. Of the total sample 4,166 Bahrani households were successfully interviewed. There were four questionnaires: household, household environmental conditions, reproductive health and child health. Health information in the survey is all self-reported; however, the survey did include child anthropometric measurements.
