The Mexico - Yucatán Under-5 Child Health and Mortality Statistics Project is funded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation through two grants spanning 2017–2018 and 2019–2020. The project is a collaboration between the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) and Regional Research Center “Dr. Hideyo Noguchi” (CIR) at the Autonomous University of Yucatán (UADY). The overarching objectives of the study is to improve health care for children under 5 in poor areas of the state of Yucatán, Mexico, and to improve the quality of mortality statistics. The Mexico - Yucatán Under-5 Baseline and Endline Surveys 2020 were generated in the second phase of the project, while the Mexico - Yucatán Under 5 Verbal Autopsy and Medical Record Review 2017 was generated during the initial phase of the project.
