The 1980 Zambia census was conducted between August 25 and September 7, 1980. Two questionnaires were used: the full form for urban areas and some select rural areas and a short form for rural areas except for those covered with the full form.

This census covered family composition, ethnicity, domestic migration, place of birth, education, fertility, occupation, and disability.
