The purpose of this survey was to investigate the levels of nutrition and malnutrition present in children aged 6-59 months. The survey also sought to estimate crude and under-five death rates. To collect this information, this survey adopted the UNICEF Standardized Monitoring and Assessment for Relief and Transition (SMART) methodology.

The data were collected through in-person household interviews and anthropometric measurements taken from children. This survey took place in the mountainous and plain coastal zones of Taiz. The sample size for this survey was 575 households in the mountainous zone and 552 households in the plain coastal zone.
