Summary

The Global School-Based Health Survey (GSHS) was designed to provide accurate data on health behaviors and protective factors among students, including dietary behaviors, hygiene, physical activity, drug and alcohol use, and violence and unintentional injury. It is often used to help countries develop priorities, establish programs, and advocate for resources for school health programs, policies, and youth health.

The 2019 Vietnam survey included students in grades 8-12 (ages 13-17) using a three-stage cluster sampling design; a total of 7,796 students from 81 schools answered a self-administered questionnaire, with a 97% student response rate.
