Summary

The ENHA is part of Uruguay's Continuous Household Survey (ECH). The 2006 survey was an amplified version, implemented in place of the census, which was postponed until 2010. The sample of 87,000 households was drawn from phase one of the census, conducted in 2004, resulting in a sample of approximately 1 out of every 12 private households in the country. This larger sample included households in smaller urban and rural areas that had not been interviewed in previous household surveys.

The sample was surveyed throughout the year via four quarterly questionnaires. Each questionnaire covered topics of housing, household demographics, education, health, social assistance, employment, and income, and included quarterly modules on housing conditions, employment issues such as child labor and technology, disability and health care use, and migration.

An 8.4% sample of households from the census (256,866 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota.
