Summary

Conducted since 1968, Uruguay's Continuous Household Survey (ECH) collects reliable information on demographic, social, and economic aspects of the country and its people. The ECH is performed through direct interviews of household representatives and individuals (ages 14 and older) within those households throughout the country. For the 2012 ECH, the sample frame was based on preliminary estimates of the 2011 census, and census areas provided the primary sampling units. From a planned sample of 50,523 homes, 43,839 households were actually sampled, for a reponse rate of 86.6%.
