The American Community Survey (ACS) is an annual ongoing survey providing information each year between dicennial US censuses. All of the ACS data are survey estimates. Information collected is used by state and local governments and federal programs for planning service delivery in areas such as education, housing, and other social services and for developing infrastructure. Basic questions ask respondents about age, sex, race, ethnicity, education level, military status, income, and employment status. Additional questions address family composition and relationships, disability, transportation and access, health insurance, and housing and living conditions. Beginning in 2007, there is also a customized survey for Puerto Rico.
