Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs) is a laboratory- and population-based surveillance system for bacterial pathogens of public health interest. Surveillance areas include select counties in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Mexico, New York, Oregon, and Tennessee (the 1998 Streptococcus pneumoniae report does not include Colorado or New Mexico). Annual reports including demographics, incidence, and deaths are released for each ABCs pathogen.
