The 2001 UDES participants were selected from a sub-sample of those surveyed in the 2000-2001 Uganda Demographic and Health Survey (DHS). Data from 2002 UDES can be statistically linked to the 2000-2001 Uganda DHS. For the 2001 UDES, 4,246 parents/ guardians were successfully interviewed from 4,217 households. Parent/ guardian interviews provided data on 11,610 school age children age 6-18.
