The Tonga National Nutrition Survey conducted in 1986 aimed to collect information on the nutritional status of children and adults nationwide, and to identify nutritional problems and their causes. Data were collected by questionnaire which included modules for children aged 0-4 years, men aged 20-49 years, and women aged 15-49 years. The questionnaire collected information on topics such as dietary habits, feeding patterns, maternal and child health care, anthropometric measurements, and nutritional knowledge. Additional blood sampling was performed for female participants. All 5 divisions of Tonga were surveyed.
