Summary 

The National Nutrition Survey conducted in 2014 was the first survey of its kind carried out in Tanzania. The survey collected data on feeding practices, handwashing and hygiene, prevalence of iodized salt, and de-worming efforts. The nutritional status of children ages 0 to 59 months and women ages 15 to 49 years was also assessed. The survey adopted the Standardized Monitoring and Assessment of Relief and Transitions (SMART) methodology to collect data.

Data were collected from 16,984 children under 5 years of age and 18,399 women of reproductive age were canvassed from 991 clusters of households.
