Summary

An independent nongovernmental organization, the Violations Documentation Center in Syria began monitoring and documenting violations in the country in 2011. It maintains a database, available through its website, of individuals killed, detained, missing, kidnapped, or suffered other human rights violations as a result of the conflict known as the Syrian Civil War, or Syrian Uprising. In the database, individuals killed by regime forces are classified as the Revolution's Martyrs, while those killed by antigovernment forces are classfied as the Regime's casualities or fatalities.
