The report Surveillance for Certain Health Behaviors Among States and Selected Local Areas – United States, 2010, provides results from the 2010 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey. BRFSS began in 1984 and gathers information on health risk behaviors, preventive health practices, and health care access primarily related to chronic disease and injury.  BRFSS is conducted in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and Guam; a list of data available by state and year is available on the BRFSS site. In 2010, a pilot study collected a sample of cell phone only interviews in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Virgin Islands.
