Summary 

The Sudan Northern States Malaria Indicator Survey (SNMIS) 2009 provides information on the prevalence of malaria infection, treatment and prevention practices in the 15 northern states of the Republic of the Sudan (1956-2011). The survey was designed to be representative of the 15 northern states and their urban-rural areas. For the 2009 SNMIS 26,471 individuals from 5,980 households were successfully interviewed. Additionally, 21,988 consenting respondents were assessed for malaria infection using rapid diagnostic testing (RDT) and microscopy.
