This dataset was created by the economist Angus Maddison. It contains data on population, GDP, GDP per capita, population growth rates, GDP growth rates, and per capita GDP growth rates for countries, small country groups, regions, and the world dating back to Roman times. The Maddison Project provides updates to the original dataset when new information is available.
