Summary 

"With the aim of harmonizing information and having common indicators, the EU decided to implement within the European Statistical System, a European Health Survey System (EHSS), among which was a Health survey through personal interview (European Health Interview Survey-EHIS). The main objective was to measure in a harmonized way the health status of EU citizens, as well as their lifestyles and other determinants of health, as well as their use of health services."-Methodology Report

In Spain, the survey has been conducted every five years by the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Spain, as the European Health Survey in Spain (EESE in Spanish, ESHS in English), starting in 2009. The sample size for ESHS2014 was approximately 37,500 households.
