Summary

The October Household Survey (OHS) 1996 was conducted as part of the annual series that began in 1993. In 1996, the survey was conducted in November, rather than in October, since enumeration for the 1996 population census took place during that time. The sample included 16,000 households, including 80,000 individuals from all population groups.

The OHS covered employment, unemployment, and the informal labor market. In addition, the survey provided information on households, dwellings, births, deaths, migration, access to health and social services, safety and well-being of household, and perceived quality of life.
