Summary 

Data on newborns and maternal care are collected annually in the Perinatal Information System of the Republic of Slovenia (PIS RS) by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ). The data collection follows the calendar year and comes from birth records. Included in the report are other sources of information such as the statistical office of Slovenia and the WHO. For 2003, there was a total of 17,160 births with 17,066 live births and 94 stillbirths.
