This survey was carried out by the National Statistics Office and is not claimed as a UNICEF administered Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS). The purpose of this survey was to gather information to aid in the development of population indicators within UNICEF Country Program for Children (CPC) areas.

The data were collected through face-to-face interviews and anthropometric measurements taken from children under 5 years of age. The questionnaires used included one for the household and one for women aged 15-49 years within households that had children aged 0-59 months. The questionnaires contained the main topic areas of household sociodemographics, housing conditions, education, reproduction, and children's health. Children under the age of 5 years were measured for height, weight, and mid upper arm circumference.

The sample size for this survey was 10,508 households in which completed interviews were obtained. This sample contained 4,487 women between the ages of 15-49.
