Summary

Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1990 Philippines de jure census collected data through face-to-face interviews on subjects of housing, household demographics, education, migration, disability, employment for those 10 and older, and fertility for women age 15-49. A Common Household Questionnaire (CHP 2) was used to enumerate the majority of the population and a longer Sample Household Questionnaire (CPH 3) was used to enumerate a sample of the population. A separate form (CPH 4) was administered to institutional populations. The census day was May 1, 1990 and fieldwork continued for 20 days. A 10% differentially weighted sample of households (6,013,913 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota.
