It is designed to gather data on the socio-economic profile of families and other information that are related to their living conditions. It generates indicators which are correlated with poverty, such as ownership or possession of house and lot, the types of the materials of the roofs and walls of their housing units, their access to safe water, the types of toilet facility they use in their homes, and presence of family members. The 2004 APIS uses the 2003 Master Sample (MS).
