Summary 

The objective of the Epidemiological Survey of Mental Health in Rural Jungle is to identify the main mental health problems (depression, anxiety disorders, addictions and other mental health issues) in that area, the social conditions of people who suffer from them, and access to health services. The survey covers the rural areas of the provinces of Maynas and Loreto close to the city Iquitos in the department of Loreto, and the rural area of the provinces of Coronel Portillo and Padre Abad near the city of Pucallpa in the department of Ucayali. The survey interviewed adolescents from 12 to 17 years old; married or cohabiting women; adults 18 years of age or older; senior adults aged 60 or more. There were interviews in 2,396 homes; 2,062 interviewed partnered women; 2,331 adults; 448 older adults; 1,018 adolescents.
