Summary 

The 1997 Permanent Quality of Life Survey (POLS) is the first survey in the continuous series. The survey includes 9 modules, each of which targets a different segment of the Dutch population. For the baseline module, a total of 34,439 adults ages 18 and over were successfully interviewed out of a sample of 55,675 people. The Health and Labor module was administered to 10,898 people of all ages, covering health status, use of medical services, and preventive behaviors.
