United Kingdom - England and Wales National Survey of Morbidity in General Practice 1991-1992

The fourth National Survey of Morbidity in General Practice (also referred to as MSGP4) followed previous national morbidity surveys occuring since 1955. The motivation for MSGP4 was to collect data on why patients consult in general practice, in order to provide estimates of incidence and prevalence of diseases according to age, sex, and socioeconomic status. The 502,493 patients in the survey comprised a representative 1% sample of the population of England and Wales. Participating practice doctors were trained to record morbidity data for the survey, and patients' demographic information was collected by trained interviewers. Reports containing results from MSGP4 may be available through the library system.
