Summary

Censuses provide population numbers, household or family size and composition, and information on sex and age distribution. They often include other demographic, economic and health-related topics as well. The 1990 Mexico de jure census collected data through direct enumeration on the subjects of housing, household demographics, employment for those 12 and older, education, migration, and fertility for women 12 and older. The census day was March 12, 1990 and fieldwork continued until March 16.

A 10% sample of dwellings from the census (8,118,242 individuals) is available through IPUMS International at the University of Minnesota. Group quarters are not available in the sample and vacant units are not identified. Refer to the IPUMS website for guidelines on citing database versions.
