The UNAIDS Secretariat has the responsibility for developing the reporting process, accepting reports from member states, and preparing a report for the UN General Assembly. Data for the report come from the Ministry of Health and other government ministries, the CSO, and from survey results and studies. A section on the status of the epidemic provides high level figures like the number of new cases and number of AIDS-related deaths.
