Summary

GENACIS was a mutli-country survey series designed to collect information on drinking patterns of men and women in a variety of countries around the world. In addition to collecting information on alcohol use patterns in men and women, participants were also asked about their social networks, relationships, and problems they have experienced related to alcohol use including interpersonal and sexual violence.

GENACIS surveys across all countries used a standard or expanded core questionnaire, but individual country questionnaires included unique questions to their regions. In Japan, the questionnaire also collected more information on consequences of drinking, victimization and violence, and participants' mental health status.
