Taken together, the submissions provide the foundation for the UN Secretary-General's report to the General Assembly on the global HIV/AIDS epidemic. Data for each report may come from the nation's Ministry of Health and other government ministries, its CSO, and from the results of surveys and studies. Each country progress report contains a section on the status of the epidemic in that country for the two-year period, with figures on topics such as the number of HIV tests that have been received, the number of new cases reported, and the number of AIDS-related deaths.
