Results from the Civil Registration System (CRS) from 1996-2001 were released in the Vital Statistics of India Based on the Civil Registration System special report. While ideally a more comprehensive report would have been released for each year in this time period, due to non-availability or limited availability of annual reports from States, a consolidated report was released.
