Summary

The Annual Health Survey 2011-2012 is the second round of a three-year, longitudinal, demographic survey of nine high-focus states: Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Rajasthan. This update of the AHS drew a representative sample of 20,694 primary sample units, covering 4.28 million households and 20.61 million people from the 284 districts in these nine states. The recall period for the first update was January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010.

In an effort to create a district health profile and to track district-level interventions, the AHS provides data on vital and health indicators at the district level, including fertility, mortality, disabilities, injuries, illness, access to family planning services, and maternal and child healthcare.
