Summary

The Annual Health Survey 2010-2011 is the baseline for a three-year longitudinal demographic survey of nine high-focus states: Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Rajasthan. The AHS drew a representative sample of about 4.14 million households and 20.1 million people from the 284 districts in these nine states. The recall period for the baseline is January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2009.

In an effort to create a district health profile and to track district-level interventions, the AHS provides data on vital and health indicators at the district level, including fertility, mortality, disabilities, injuries, illness, access to family planning services, and maternal and child healthcare.
