Summary

Hong Kong participated in the World Fertility Survey with an associate status. The 1976 By-Census gathered data pertinent to the World Fertility Survey. Data were collected through interviews of married women ages 15-49, completing 1,451 questionnaires. The questionnaire covered the topics of sociodemographic information, mortality, fertility, and maternal history. Additional data was included to cover family planning information that was not collected through the By-Census. This consisted of family planning statistics collected by the Hong Kong Family Planning Association and the Medical and Health Department of the Hong Kong Government, and an additional survey on family planning knowledge, attitude, and practice that was carried out in 1977. The 1977 family planning survey interviewed 1,550 married women ages 15-49. Family planning information was only collected from individuals who were using government family planning services.
