Handwashing among Public Restroom Users at the Minnesota State Fair

The Division of Environmental Health at the Minnesota Department of Health performed an observational study at the Minnesota state fairgrounds between June 2003 and September 2004 to collect baseline data and to assess the impact of signs on handwashing among public restroom users. Average handwashing percentages were calculated for youths (older children) and adults for each sex across three separate events at the fair.
