Summary

The Ghana Tuberculosis Prevalence Survey of 2013 collected information on the prevalence of tuberculosis. The sample size included 64,000 individuals in 98 clusters. Respondents were men and women aged 15 years or older. The survey included a survey, individual symptom questionnaire, and central x-ray readings. Two sputum specimens for bacteriological examination were collected if individuals tested positive for tuberculosis through x-ray, or were suspected to have tuberculosis based on responses to questions during the symptomatic screening portion of the interview. Smear-positive cases and inconclusive culture results were confirmed by GeneXpert MTB/RIF.
