Summary

The Kintampo Health and Demographic Surveillance System (KHDSS) was established in 1994. The KHDSS monitors the Kintampo North and Kintampo South districts in the Brong Ahafo Region and it covers an area of 7,162 square kilometers. The system records pregnancies, births, deaths, and migrations of household members. In November 2003, surveillance was expanded to cover the entire population of both districts. Kintampo HDSS is a member of the INDEPTH network and it utilizes verbal autopsy instruments.
