The Health Behavior in School-Aged Children (HBSC) 2001-2002 surveys collected health and social information from 11-, 13-, and 15-year old students in 35 countries and regions across Europe. The self-completed questionnaire collected information on students' health status, health behaviors, physical activity, sexual behavior, and substance use. The use of a standardized questionnaire allows for data analysis at the national level as well as comparison of data across countries.

The total sample size for the survey was 162,306 students. The sample size for France was 8,185 students.
