A household questionnaire was administered through the Disease Surveillance Points System (DSP). The survey collected responses on 52 questions from 120,298 people in 30 provinces of China. Participants were men and women 15 to 69 years old in urban and rural areas. The first national smoking survey was conducted in 1984.
