Summary 

This assessment provides annual figures for HIV/AIDS cases and AIDS-related deaths, as of October 2007. A national HIV/AIDS sentinel surveillance system was created in 1995. By the end of 2006, there were 393 HIV sentinel surveillance sites in all 31 provinces, and 159 behavioral surveillance sites in 27 provinces.
