The Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) is a multi-wave survey of Canadians' health status, consisting of both household questionnaire and clinical examination components. The household questionnaires collect information on nutrition, tobacco, and alcohol use, medical history, health status, physical activity, and demographic and socioeconomic variables. Clinical exams in regional mobile examination centers collected physical measurements including blood pressure, height, weight, physical fitness, oral health, and samples of blood, urine, and DNA.

In the first cycle, which took place in 2007-2009, a sample of 6,604 participants aged 6-79 were interviewed with the household questionnaire, and clinical exams were conducted with 5,604 participants. Data were collected in New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia.
