Summary

The Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness (RAAB) is a rapid survey methodology developed at the International Centre for Eye Health (ICEH). It is a population based survey of visual impairment and eye care services among people aged 50 years and over.

The Cambodia - Takeo Rapid Assessment for Avoidable Blindness 2011-2012 collected data through household interviews and visual examinations. Subjects with vision-impairing cataract were questioned on barriers keeping them from pursuing cataract surgery, and subjects that had undergone cataract surgery were asked about their operations. Of the targeted sample size, 4,471 subjects were interviewed and examined successfully.
