The data were collected through a household questionnaire and a village questionnaire. The main themes of the questionnaires were demographics, living conditions, agriculture, labor, health, victimization, household income, and household consumption. Household questionnaires were answered through in-home in-person interviews. Each household also filled out a month-long daily diary on income, expenditures, and consumption. The sample size was 3,600 households. The village questionnaires were answered through in-person interviews with head members of each community.
