The ISA was intended to produce information and knowledge on the health status, living conditions, lifestyle, and health care utilization of the urban population. Survey topics included socioeconomic characteristics, maternal and child health, health care use, drug consumption, and preventive examinations. Informed by a probablisitic stratified sample design, the survey collected data via direct interview from a representative of each private household sampled. For the 2003 survey, 3,357 people ages 12 and older were interviewed.
