Brazil Communication of Hospital Admission 2008

The Communication of Hospital Admission (CIH) database contains records of inpatient care provided to private health insurance beneficiaries. The CIH database complements the Hospital Information System (SIH) database, which covers care financed by the Unified Health System (SUS), the public health system in Brazil. CIH, originally established in 1999, was revised and renamed in May 2011, to include the possibility of registration of primary care visits not captured by the SIA system. It is now known as the Hospital and Ambulatory Information Reporting (CIHA) system.
