Summary 

Part of MICS3, the 2006 Belize Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey was national health interview survey with a focus on the situation of children and women, covering topics such education, immunization, contraceptive use. The survey data provides estimates for all six districts of the country, as well as urban and rural areas separately. The survey used three questionnaires:

  • A household questionnaire collected basic demographic information on household members and covered topics such as education, water supply, sanitation, disability, and iodine supplements.
  • A questionnaire for individual women ages 15-49 collected information relating to child mortality, tetanus toxoid vaccination, maternal health, contraceptive use, sexual behavior, and health literacy.
  • A questionnaire that collected data on children under-five covered topics such as child development, vitamin A supplements, breastfeedings, immunization and anthropometry.
