The survey was subnationally representative for all three regions and their provinces, with the sample split nearly equally between regions: Flemish region (3500 participants), Brussels region (3500 participants), and Walloon region (3500 participants). Two questionnaires were used: a face-to-face interview questionnaire, and a self-completed questionnaire; household information was also collected at the time of the face-to-face interview. The sample was drawn from the National Register; all households were eligible except for those living in institutions.
